Botox Cost, Explained

How much is Botox going to cost?

Most people asking this want one number, and the number follows your unit count. Botox is priced per unit, so the count is the only thing that moves. Catherine works that count out with you at a complimentary consultation in Bronxville or Bridgehampton, and no deposit is taken to book it.

The pricing model

How your price is built

Botox is priced per unit: $15.50 a unit, and Beauty Bank members pay less (see the Beauty Bank page). Botox, Dysport and Daxxify all sit at that same per-unit price, so choosing between them never changes what a unit costs you. What changes is the count, because Dysport is measured on its own scale. The consultation where your count is worked out is complimentary, and there is no deposit.

For scale: the frown lines and forehead treated in one visit sit near the top of the ranges below, and a small area such as the lip flip sits near the bottom. The lip flip and the masseter are off-label uses of Botox, and how far either goes varies from person to person. Muscle strength moves the count more than anything else.

A unit is a fixed measure of product. Pricing by the unit means your quote is a count you can check, and the count is the same number written into your chart and placed at your treatment visit.

No two faces take the same count. Strength varies between the brow and the eyes on the same person, let alone between two people with the same concern, so the count has to be made on you before it can be priced. You have the figure at the end of your consultation.

Typical units by area

A rough guide to units

These are general planning ranges for Botox in common areas. Yours may run higher or lower depending on muscle strength and how much softening you want, and your own number is confirmed in person. Every figure below is a unit count, there to help you plan.

Treatment areaTypical unit range
Frown lines between browsAround 15 to 25
Forehead linesRoughly 10 to 20
Crow's feet (both sides)About 16 to 24
Brow liftUsually 4 to 8
Bunny linesOften 4 to 8
Masseter, off-label, each sideAbout 20 to 30
Lip flip4 to 8 units

Planning figures drawn from published guidance. Stronger muscles take more product. On a first Botox treatment the dose is light, which also makes the first bill the smaller one, and the follow-up decides whether anything is added.

What changes the total

Why two quotes can differ

Two things move your total: the number of units your muscles need, and the number of areas you treat. Heavy, movement-driven muscles take more product to soften. Treating the forehead alongside the frown lines costs more than either one alone, because more product goes in.

Two numbers decide any Botox quote: how many units are planned for each area, and which product those units are measured in. You get both figures before treatment, and the count quoted is the count placed.

If cost is a factor, mention it at your consultation. Treatment can be staged: start with the area that bothers you most, properly dosed, and add more at your follow-up once you have seen the first result.

Cost over time

How long your result lasts

Botox holds for a few months before movement comes back, so most people maintain a few times a year. Each maintenance visit is priced on your unit count at $15.50 a unit, and frown lines typically take 15 to 25 units. Treating more than one area puts in more product, so the total runs higher. Catherine maps your own count at a complimentary consultation, with no deposit.

Consistency works in your favor. Muscles relaxed correctly and on a regular schedule tend to pull less strongly over time, and long-standing patients often hold the same result on slightly fewer units than they needed at the start.

Questions

Your total is your unit count at $15.50 a unit, and the table above gives the planning range for each area. Catherine works the count out on your own muscle strength, in person, and confirms the figure with you at your consultation. You pay for the units placed. That consultation is complimentary, and no deposit is taken.

Botox is $15.50 per unit, and $13.95 a unit for Beauty Bank members. Dysport and Daxxify carry that same per-unit figure. Dysport is counted on its own scale, so the same area shows a different unit count on a Dysport quote. The consultation is complimentary and no deposit is taken.

Ask for the unit count per area, and ask which product those units are measured in, before you hear a price. Catherine sets the count at your consultation, which is complimentary with no deposit.

It is the same $15.50 a unit, but medical use follows a fixed injection map, so the count runs higher than a cosmetic area. Chronic migraine and underarm sweating are FDA-approved uses; masseter and TMJ treatment is off-label. See Botox for migraines, Botox for TMJ or Botox for sweating. Booking the complimentary consultation where the units are counted asks no deposit.

Beauty Bank members pay less per unit than the standard $15.50. What membership covers and costs is set out on the Beauty Bank page, and Catherine goes through it with you before you join. Consultations are complimentary, and there is no deposit.
