Hair Restoration (PRP)

  • •PRP Scalp Injections
  • •Your Own Platelets
  • •AquaFirme and Toskani
  • •Series of Visits

Hair restoration starts with PRP, platelet-rich plasma concentrated from a small sample of your own blood. The growth factors in those platelets are injected into thinning areas of the scalp to support follicles that are producing finer, shorter hair. The protocol also uses AquaFirme, which carries Toskani regenerative serums into the scalp with ultrasound. Both the Bronxville and Bridgehampton offices offer it.

Hair Restoration (PRP)

What Is Hair Restoration?

Hair restoration uses platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, concentrated from a small sample of your own blood with a centrifuge, which separates the platelet layer from the red cells. Those platelets carry growth factors, and the plasma is injected at follicle depth into the areas where hair has become finer and shorter. The growth factors signal the dermal papilla at the base of each follicle, holding hair in its growth phase for longer so shafts come in thicker across a series of sessions. AquaFirme then works over the same area, combining cleansing, infusion and ultrasound to drive Toskani regenerative serums toward the follicles.

Hair Restoration at Beauty and Fly

Hair restoration is performed by Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C, at the Bronxville and Bridgehampton offices. Her approach is conservative: the scalp is assessed area by area, plasma is placed only where follicles can still respond, and progress is reviewed before further visits are booked.

03

Is Hair Restoration Right for You?

  • Hair restoration suits men and women with early to moderate thinning, where fine hair is still growing in the affected areas and the follicles there remain active. Scattered thinning and a defined pattern of loss both respond.

  • Pattern hair loss, thinning spread across the whole scalp, heavy shedding in the months after pregnancy, and a receding front hairline are the concerns treated with PRP at both offices.

  • A follicle that has scarred over cannot be restored by PRP, and that situation calls for surgical transplantation, which is not offered here. Medical history and any hair loss medication are reviewed at the consultation.

What Are the Benefits of Hair Restoration?

The earliest benefit is a reduction in shedding, which most patients notice before any new hair can be seen. New shafts follow in the months after that, and overall density looks fuller once the series is complete. Because the plasma is concentrated from a sample of your own blood, an allergic reaction is unlikely, and no synthetic material is involved. Consultations are complimentary and there is no deposit.

What Hair Restoration Treats

Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenic Alopecia)

Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenic Alopecia)

Growth factors placed in the thinning zones act on follicles that have miniaturized, supporting thicker shafts and slowing the pattern as it spreads.

Treatments+

PRP carries your own platelet growth factors into the thinning zones, where miniaturized follicles can be stimulated back toward thicker growth.

Causes+

DHT shrinks sensitive follicles over successive cycles, so each new hair grows finer and shorter until it stops appearing at all.

Early Weeks

Early weeks · less shedding

The first change most patients notice is less hair on the pillow and in the shower. Reduced shedding arrives before any new growth is visible, and it is the earliest sign that the follicles are responding to the growth factors placed around them.

Mid-Course

Mid-course · new growth

New shafts become visible as stimulated follicles return to active growth. Density improves gradually through this stretch, and most patients feel the difference in the thickness of a ponytail or a part line before they can photograph it.

Full Results From the Series

Full result · fuller density

By the end of the course, new growth has matured and overall density reads fuller. Maintenance visits hold that gain. Their timing is set at a follow-up visit, once the result from the series has been assessed.

Experience Behind Your Hair Restoration

Why Beauty and Fly

Experience Behind Your Hair Restoration

Hair restoration at Beauty and Fly is performed by Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C, who has worked with PRP and PRFM for about 15 years, since plasma treatments entered aesthetics. The protocol combines PRP injections with AquaFirme and Toskani regenerative serums, and the number of visits follows the scalp assessment.

PRP is autologous, which means every part of it comes from you. The platelet layer is separated from your own blood sample and returned to the scalp as plasma. There is no donor material in it and nothing synthetic.

AquaFirme cleanses and infuses the scalp using ultrasound, which carries Toskani regenerative serums into the skin around the follicles after the plasma has been placed.

Sessions are spaced out, and the scalp is examined again at each visit, so the injection grid can follow where the thinning has changed.

FAQ

Hair Restoration Questions,
Answered

What to know about PRP hair restoration before your appointment in Bronxville or Bridgehampton.

PRP stimulates follicles that are still alive. It cannot bring back a follicle that has scarred over or died, which is why early to moderate thinning responds best. Where fine hair is still growing in a thinning area, there is usually something to work with.

Hair restoration runs as a series of visits, and the number depends on how much thinning there is and how your scalp responds. The number is confirmed at your consultation in Bronxville or Bridgehampton.

Less shedding is the first change, and it comes before any new growth is visible. New shafts appear over the months that follow, and density keeps building across the course of visits. The result is reviewed at your follow-up appointments as it develops.

The scalp is sensitive, so topical numbing is applied first and the plasma is placed in small amounts across the area. Most patients describe pressure and a brief sting at each point. Tenderness for a day or two afterward is normal.

Yes. PRP can be used alongside topical or oral hair loss medication, and plenty of patients do both. Bring whatever you are currently using to your consultation so it can be reviewed.

PRP is autologous: the plasma injected into your scalp was concentrated from your own blood sample, with no donor material and nothing synthetic in it. Expect scalp tenderness for a day or two and small injection marks that fade. Medical history is reviewed before the first session.

For pattern hair loss and diffuse thinning, the options with clinical evidence behind them are PRP scalp injections, topical minoxidil, oral finasteride for men, and low-level laser therapy. PRP is the in-office treatment at Beauty and Fly, paired with AquaFirme, an ultrasound device that drives Toskani regenerative serums through the surface of the scalp. Many patients use at-home minoxidil alongside PRP. Which combination makes sense depends on your pattern of loss, how long it has been progressing, and what medication you already take, all of which are reviewed at a complimentary consultation.

Follicle health tracks with scalp circulation, nutrient levels, hormone balance and inflammation. Bloodwork that checks iron, ferritin, vitamin D and thyroid function is worth doing, since a deficiency or a thyroid shift will keep hair thin whatever is applied on top. Reducing tension styling and protecting the scalp from sun exposure both help. PRP adds a clinical option that uses your own platelet growth factors, with no medication and no synthetic ingredient in the plasma itself. Medical history and any recent bloodwork are reviewed at consultation to work out which of these matters most in your case.

Hair can be restored where the follicle is still viable, even when it has miniaturized and is producing short, fine hair. PRP delivers concentrated platelet growth factors into the follicular layer of the scalp, where they act on the dermal papilla, extend the growing phase of the hair cycle, and strengthen the shafts already there. Minoxidil, finasteride and low-level laser therapy also work on living follicles. Once a follicle has scarred over, from advanced pattern loss, traction damage or a scarring condition such as lichen planopilaris, it cannot be brought back without surgical transplantation, which is not offered at Beauty and Fly. Early to moderate pattern loss, postpartum shedding and diffuse thinning are the situations that respond. Shedding slows first, new growth follows over the months after, and density builds across the series. The assessment at your consultation in Bronxville or Bridgehampton covers which follicles are still active and what density change is realistic for you.

Yes. Female-pattern thinning, diffuse thinning and postpartum shedding all involve follicles that are usually still viable, which is the situation PRP suits. How much of the scalp is thinning, and whether the follicles there are still producing hair, is assessed at a complimentary consultation in Bronxville or Bridgehampton before a course is recommended.
