Radiofrequency Microneedling With Vivace
01

What Is Vivace Microneedling?

Vivace is fractional micro-needle radiofrequency. Gold-tipped needles pass through the surface into the dermis, and radiofrequency heat travels down them into that same layer. The controlled injury and the warmth together start a repair response that produces new collagen and elastin, so texture levels out, scar tissue loosens and the skin firms from below. Topical numbing sits on the skin for 45 to 60 minutes beforehand, and an oral non-opioid medication is also available for comfort, though discomfort is minimal, especially once the numbing has taken. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and the collagen work carries on for months after each one.

Vivace Microneedling at Beauty and Fly

Vivace is performed at the Bronxville and Bridgehampton offices by Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C. The full face is treated, with the neck and décolleté added when those areas need it, and the thin periorbital skin on the upper and lower lids can be included. Catherine sets the number of sessions, the depth and the treatment settings after assessing your skin.

03

Is Vivace Microneedling Right for You?

  • Vivace suits adults with coarse texture, enlarged pores, old acne or surgical scarring, and skin along the cheek and jaw that has lost its firmness. Thinner, crinkled skin around the eyes can be included at a shallow depth.

  • It addresses fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars and hyperpigmentation, across the face, the neck and the décolleté.

  • Implanted electronics or metal in the treatment field, an active skin infection and a recent course of isotretinoin are each a reason to wait. Patients often need pre-treatment with skincare products first, to get the most from results and to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can occur in darker skin types and in lighter skin types prone to hyperpigmentation. Medical history is reviewed at the consultation before a first session is booked.

What Are the Benefits of Vivace Microneedling?

New collagen in the dermis changes texture, pore size, scar depth and firmness together, so a course addresses several concerns at the same time. Pore openings look smaller, shallow pits from old breakouts fill in, and firmer skin along the cheek and jaw gives the lower face a more defined edge. Surgical scars are treated the same way. The skin is pink and warm for the rest of the treatment day, and most people are back to their routine the next morning. A single session is $900, and a course of three is $2,500. Consultations are complimentary.

What Radiofrequency Microneedling Treats

Crepey Skin, Eye Area

Crepey Skin, Eye Area

The skin at the outer corners of your eyes has gone fine and crinkled, so you look tired on mornings you slept well. Collagen support there can firm the surface and even out how light sits on it. It is a texture change, and it arrives gradually.

Treatments+

The periorbital area, including the upper and lower lids, is treated at a shallow depth, so the collagen rebuilding over the following weeks firms that thin surface.

Causes+

The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the face, with less collagen beneath it than cheek skin, so it creases first. Sun exposure over years brings the crinkling on sooner.

How Depth Is Decided on Vivace

How Depth and Energy Are Set

How Depth Is Decided on Vivace

Vivace has adjustable needle depth and adjustable radiofrequency energy, and both are matched to the area and the condition of your skin. An irritated barrier, or skin that darkened after a past treatment, calls for a shallower depth and a lower energy setting.

Before treatment your skin is examined for thickness, pigment history and the depth of any scarring, and those findings set the needle depth and the energy for that session. Skin response is then checked between passes, and the settings are adjusted mid-treatment if your skin needs it.

Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C, has nearly 20 years in aesthetic medicine. Vivace sits alongside lasers, peels and injectables at both offices, and the consultation covers how a course fits your plan.

Cheek skin takes one depth. Neck skin takes another, and the chest another again, so the setting changes between areas within a single session. The energy stays in the collagen layer that needs the support, and the change builds gradually.

FAQ

Radiofrequency Microneedling,
Answered

The questions patients ask about Vivace before a first session, and the answers given in the office.

Vivace is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses radiofrequency energy and microneedling to rejuvenate the skin. The treatment involves using gold-tipped needles to create microscopic wounds in the skin, which causes a controlled wound and triggers the body's natural healing process to produce more collagen and elastin. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, and hyperpigmentation. The treatment requires topical numbing for 45 to 60 mins for the most comfortable experience.

Vivace adds radiofrequency heat to needling. A standard pen relies on the needle injury alone, while Vivace carries controlled warmth through each needle into the dermis, which drives more collagen remodeling and a firming effect. Texture and firmness usually change more visibly than they do with needling on its own.

Whether for facial rejuvenation or the treatment of scars, Vivace requires multiple treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart for the best results. A series of three or more is advised. A single Vivace session is $900, and a course of three is $2,500, with a complimentary consultation and no deposit. The consultation is specific about how many visits your skin is expected to need and how far apart they should sit, because that depends on the examination and how you heal. After the series you hear when maintenance is worth booking.

Not if the device or the metal sits in the treatment field. Radiofrequency energy and implanted electronics do not mix, so a pacemaker or a nerve stimulator rules that area out. Dental metal changes where treatment can go. Raise it at the consultation and the treatment is routed around it, or something else is recommended.

Yes, when the treatment plan is built for it. Radiofrequency works by depth, which is an advantage in melanin-rich skin. Your pigment history, and anything that has darkened after a previous treatment, decides depth and energy settings that protect the barrier and keep the risk of post-inflammatory marks low.

It can be part of the treatment plan. Collagen remodeling improves surface quality, and smoother skin scatters light more evenly, so discoloration looks softer. Stubborn pigment usually needs more than energy, so Vivace often pairs with medical-grade skincare and sometimes a gentle peel. At your consultation you hear whether Vivace suits your pattern of discoloration or whether something else should come first.

Yes. Vivace works on the collagen layer, while Botox and fillers work on movement and volume. A neuromodulator should have fully taken effect before radiofrequency energy reaches the same area. When Botox comes afterward, it is booked as a separate appointment once your skin has calmed. PRP and chemical peels sequence well alongside Vivace. Your treatment plan sets the order, so nothing overlaps while your skin is still healing.

Leave your skin completely alone for the rest of the day, so the micro-channels close: no washing, no makeup, no sweat, no heat. From the next morning, mineral makeup on clean brushes is fine. Retinoids and exfoliating acids wait until your barrier is ready, usually confirmed at your check-in. It all goes home with you in writing.

Because you are waiting on collagen, and collagen is slow. The needling and the heat start a rebuilding process in the dermis that runs for months, which is why Vivace runs as a series and why the second and third sessions build on work already underway. The result is assessed at your follow-up visits, not on the day of treatment.

No. Home rollers and pens are cosmetic tools with no regulated radiofrequency and no real depth control. Vivace is performed in the office with sterile single-use tips and a depth set for your skin, and attempting it at home risks infection and scarring. Home skincare that supports the in-office work is gladly recommended.
