Microneedling with PRP

  • •Collagen and elastin support
  • •Your own platelet-rich plasma
  • •Scars, texture, brown spots, lines
  • •Depth set per area

Microneedling opens controlled micro-channels in the skin to stimulate repair, and platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood is worked into those channels. The growth factors in your plasma support collagen and elastin production below the surface, so texture, scarring and early lines improve across a series of sessions. Microneedling with PRP
01

What Is PRP Microneedling?

Microneedling with PRP combines two steps in one appointment. A needling device punctures tiny holes in the skin of the face or neck, which stimulates skin repair and the production of collagen. Platelet-rich plasma is then administered to the same areas: a small sample of blood is drawn, spun on site to concentrate the plasma, and worked into the fresh channels so the growth factors reach the layer where collagen rebuilds. Together the two steps can decrease the appearance of wrinkles, scars, brown spots and other skin issues. Texture and tone usually improve first, within the first several weeks, while scarring and fine lines take months as deeper collagen matures.

PRP Microneedling at Beauty and Fly

Microneedling with PRP is performed by Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C, at the Bronxville and Bridgehampton offices. Her approach is a conservative first session, with needle depth set region by region and reviewed at the follow-up before it is taken any deeper.

03

Is Microneedling with PRP Right for You?

  • Microneedling with PRP suits adults who want to change the look or feel of their skin, including uneven tone, coarse texture, enlarged pores, acne scarring and early lines. Most skin types can be treated, with pigment-prone skin treated more cautiously.

  • It addresses wrinkles and fine lines, rough or uneven texture, brown spots and hyperpigmentation, pitted acne scarring, and crepey skin under the eye.

  • Active breakouts, recent isotretinoin and a history of keloid scarring are reviewed first, and any of them can be a reason to wait. A session is moved to another day when the skin has had heavy sun exposure in the days before it.

What Are the Benefits of PRP Microneedling?

Microneedling with PRP refreshes the skin across a course of visits, and the plasma amplifies what the needling starts. The growth factors support collagen and elastin production below the surface, and healing is quicker than after microneedling alone. Several concerns improve over the series, including fine lines and wrinkles, rough texture, acne scarring, enlarged pores, brown spots and hyperpigmentation. Microneedling is $400 on its own, and $200 to $500 more when combined with PRP. Consultations are complimentary and there is no deposit.

What This Treatment Changes

Concerns Treated With Microneedling and PRP

Acne Scars and Pitted Texture

Acne Scars and Pitted Texture

When good skincare has taken scarring as far as it can go, adding PRP to microneedling gives the collagen rebuild underneath more to work with. Depth matters more here than anywhere else on the face.

Treatments+

Scarred areas are worked deeper than the rest of your face, then your plasma is pressed into the fresh channels so the growth factors land at the level where indentations fill in.

Causes+

Inflamed breakouts damage collagen while they heal. What is left is a pit with a fixed edge, sitting well below anything a serum reaches.

Immediate response

Treatment day · one appointment

The draw, the spin and the treatment all happen in one appointment, which is why it runs longer than microneedling alone. You leave flushed and warm, with skin that feels tight, and most patients are presentable the next day.

Collagen building phase

Weeks 2-6 · texture shifts first

The channels close over and the rebuild starts underneath. Texture is usually the first thing you notice, then tone. Scar edges and fine lines move more slowly, and are easier to see toward the end of this window.

When Full Results Appear

After the series · fullest change

Collagen matures slowly, so the biggest change in scarring and skin quality arrives a few months after your final session. Maintenance after that depends on how long your skin holds the result, and the interval is set at a follow-up visit.

Years of Experience With Plasma Treatments

Catherine Curtin, MSN, FNP-C, has used PRP and PRFM in aesthetic practice for about 15 years, since plasma treatments entered the field. Microneedling with PRP is offered at both offices, in Bronxville and Bridgehampton, by appointment only.

Microneedling with PRP runs as a series over several visits. Healing skin burns easily, so Catherine advises starting the series outside stretches of heavy sun exposure and keeping treated skin out of direct sun between sessions. Texture usually changes in the first few weeks, while scarring takes months.

PRFM is plasma spun into a thicker, fibrin-rich gel that holds where it is placed and releases its growth factors more slowly than liquid PRP. It is laid over scar beds and thin under-eye skin, where new collagen takes longest to form.

The spin separates your blood and concentrates the platelets, with the growth factors they carry, into a small volume of plasma. Those growth factors signal skin cells to lay down new collagen, which is why the plasma is applied while the channels are still open.

Membership and the Cost of a Series

Beauty Bank, and Planning a Series

Microneedling with PRP runs as a series of appointments. Beauty Bank is a $150 monthly membership, and it changes one price: members pay $13.95 per unit of neuromodulator against the standard $15.50, which matters if Botox is added between sessions. Microneedling and PRP cost members the same as everyone else. Catherine explains how the membership fits at a complimentary consultation, and there is no deposit.

What Decides Your Result

Why Patients Choose Catherine for Microneedling with PRP

The plasma is drawn and spun on the day of your treatment, and the needle depth is set for each area of your face. Catherine sets that depth at your assessment.

Skin Thickness Sets the Depth

Personalized settings

Needle depth is set from the thickness of the skin, the concern being treated and how your skin healed from earlier treatments. Scarred cheek skin takes a deeper setting than thin under-eye skin, so the depth is changed between areas.

A Clear Comparison With Vivace

Clear comparison at consult

At your consultation Catherine explains where this treatment stops and where Vivace RF microneedling starts. Vivace adds radiofrequency energy and does more for tightening and deep scar work, while this one leads with your own growth factors. If Vivace fits what you are describing better, she points you there.

FAQ

Your Microneedling Questions,
Answered

The questions patients ask most often about microneedling with PRP, answered before you ever book anything.

A small blood sample is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge, which concentrates the platelets and the growth factors they carry into plasma. The microneedling device then opens tiny channels across the treated skin, at a depth set for each area, and those punctures stimulate collagen production. The plasma goes on immediately afterward, while the channels are still open, so the growth factors reach the layer where new collagen forms. The draw, the spin and the needling all happen in the one appointment.

It pushes your skin to make fresher collagen and elastin. The channels trigger a controlled repair response, and your plasma delivers growth factors straight into them at the depth where that rebuild happens. Given a proper series, that shows up as shallower acne scarring, smoother texture, softer early lines and skin that reflects light more evenly.

Across a planned series, yes, with how much changes depending on the concern. It can give smoother texture, softer early lines and shallower acne scarring, because the plasma feeds the collagen response the needling starts. Texture tends to shift in the first weeks, and scarring over several months as deeper collagen matures. It does not tighten loose skin and it does not replace lost volume. At the consultation Catherine examines your skin and identifies which of your concerns this treatment can change and which need a different one.

PRP adds growth factors from your own blood to the collagen response the needling starts. For acne scarring and crepey under-eye skin, that extra support usually shows in the result, so plasma is added there. For mild surface texture, microneedling on its own is often enough. Catherine confirms which version suits your skin at the consultation.

Yes, when the plan fits your skin. The plasma is your own, so a reaction to it is very unlikely, and microneedling has a long record as a collagen treatment. The risk sits in depth and in timing. Before agreeing to treat, Catherine checks your history for keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin and active breakouts, and a session is moved when your skin cannot heal cleanly from it.

Texture and tone usually move first, within the first several weeks. Scarring and fine lines take months, because deep collagen matures slowly. Catherine maps out the series at your consultation and tells you then how many sessions she expects and how far apart they should be, so you know what you are committing to before you begin.

Expect visible redness for about a day, much like a mild sunburn, with skin that feels warm and tight. Most patients are back at work the following day using a gentle cleanser and mineral SPF. Keep makeup and active ingredients off for a short window, and skip heavy sweating. You go home with written aftercare for the areas treated.

Leave the plasma on your skin for the rest of the day so the growth factors stay where they were placed. The next morning, rinse with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser using your fingertips only. No scrubs, no acids, no retinoids for several days. Mild products and daily mineral sunscreen until you are told otherwise.

Yes, in sequence, when your skin calls for both. Vivace RF microneedling drives radiofrequency heat deeper into the tissue, which is what shifts laxity and stubborn scar floors, while microneedling with PRP works through your own growth factors. Catherine decides which treatment leads, when the other is added, and how far apart the two sit, and explains that spacing at your consultation.

Microneedling is $400 on its own, and $200 to $500 more when platelet-rich plasma is infused into the channels. Where scarring is the concern it is rarely done without plasma, so plan on the combined figure. Mild surface texture is often treated at the $400 price. What your own plan costs depends on the area treated and the number of sessions recommended, and that figure is given in person. Consultations are complimentary and there is no deposit.

Yes. Catherine treats in Bronxville and in Bridgehampton, both by appointment only, with more Bridgehampton days through the summer. Tell her which office is easier for you to reach and the spacing of your series is set around that. Where the calendar allows, visits are grouped so you are not making the drive more often than the treatment needs.
