What Is PRP Therapy?

Aesthetic nurse practitioner and board-certified family nurse practitioner Catherine Curtin is proud to offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy at Beauty & Fly Aesthetic Wellness to help replenish your appearance. PRP therapy is one of the hottest cosmetic treatments in the aesthetic industry because of its natural method and exciting results. The treatment utilizes your own plasma to stimulate the skin, concealing the prevalence of wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and scars. It can also be combined with microneedling. To learn more about PRP therapy, schedule a consultation with Catherine at her Bridgehampton or Bronxville, NY location.

  • Boosting the fullness of your skin

  • Stimulating the body’s collagen production process
  • Using your body’s own proteins to enhance your skin naturally
  • Procedure requires minimal downtime

Who Is An Ideal Candidate for PRP Therapy?

PRP therapy is ideal for men and women who want to diminish signs of aging and cosmetic imperfections without plastic surgery. Since it naturally promotes collagen production, it’s also a great treatment choice if you have tired or dull-looking skin. Speak with Catherine if you have certain blood disorders, skin conditions, or anemia to determine whether it’s safe for you to receive PRP therapy.

How Does PRP Therapy Work?

After you are comfortably seated in one of our secluded treatment areas at either Catherine’s Bronxville or Bridgehampton, NY office, a small amount of blood will be taken from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Most of the time, we remove about four tablespoons of blood. After approximately 15 minutes in the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood will be separated. Catherine will place the concentrated plasma into a syringe and inject it into the designated areas of the face. The PRP process usually only takes approximately five minutes, but that can vary on a patient-to-patient basis.

What to Expect After PRP Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma promotes the production of elastin and collagen naturally to create tauter, more youthful appearing skin. As it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You can expect your face to be a bit red after the procedure as a few red blood cells will be included in the injection. A cold pack can be used on the injection area to ease any discomfort or minor swelling. Catherine Curtin recommends you receive treatments in 4 – 6 week intervals to maintain results.
